FAQ
The nitty-gritty details. If your question isn't here, we want to hear it.
What is WesenAI?
WesenAI is a developer platform for Amharic: chat, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, translation, OCR and dictionary APIs, each with a browser playground. Wesen Chat (chat.wesen.ai) is the consumer app built on the same platform.
How do I call the APIs?
Create an API key in the developer console and send it in the X-API-Key header. The chat service is OpenAI-compatible: point any OpenAI SDK at https://chat.api.wesen.ai/v1 and pass the key as the Bearer token. The API reference in the console lists every endpoint with a ready-to-run cURL command.
How does pricing work?
You buy one-time credit packs; there is no subscription. Credits never expire and every service draws on the same balance. Each request costs credits at the rates on the Pricing page, and your Wesen account and balance are shared with Wesen Chat.
How accurate is Amharic speech recognition?
Transcription runs on several engines, each priced per minute of audio. Accuracy depends on audio quality, accent and dialect, so try your own recordings in the speech-to-text playground before integrating.
How does WesenAI handle Ge'ez script?
Text and speech services accept and return Ge'ez script, and the dictionary covers Amharic headwords and word forms. Coverage still varies by service and model.
Is my data secure? What do you do with API requests?
Requests are sent over encrypted connections. We log some inputs and outputs to operate and improve the service, and we rely on service providers to run the platform. WesenAI is in alpha, so do not send sensitive personal information through the APIs.
